Sound design comes from the heart because sound triggers emotions.

Jochim C Redeker uses music to infuse episodes of the 'Mark Brandis' radio play series with excitement and emotions. The series is an adaptation of a series of German-language sci-fi novels that was hugely popular in the 1970s, and Redeker uses sound to create the worlds of the books and the sonic landscapes that he himself would love to explore. "I love working with both sound and noises, and this passion is something I can pour wholeheartedly into radio play production." Redeker uses all available opportunities to create the soundtrack for the Mark Brandis series. Over the years, the radio specialist has collected not just musical experiences, but also sound samples for epic audio backdrops. Inspiration can sometimes be found right outside his front door; whether in a field or in his own garden, Redeker simply needs his recorder, a microphone and his natural surroundings to find the sounds he needs for his productions. The sound designer is not satisfied until the radio play sounds just like a widescreen film, and has the same impact. In short, he creates cinema for the ears. Redeker has twice received the 'Ohrkanus' radio play award for the 'Mark Brandis' music; in 2010 he was awarded 'best sound design' and in 2011 'best sound concept'.
